ALL ABOUT SIXTH ANNUAL GHVINO FORUM OF AMERICA:
On November 13-16, 2023, the America-Georgia Business Council hosted the 6th Annual Ghvino Forum, the most important annual Georgian wine event in the Western hemisphere. Prominent wine historians, archeologists, economists, and wine business representatives from around the world gathered in Austin, at the University of Texas, and in Houston, at Rice University, to discuss the Wine World, from its origin to the modern-day global wine industry, all centered around Georgia.
Speakers included Ambassador of Georgia to the US David Zalkaliani; author of the book Ancient Wine and wine historian, Professor Patrick McGovern; Head of the Georgian National Museum and member of the American Academy of Science, Professor David Lordkipanidze; author of the book Wine Globalization, Professor Kym Anderson; Editor of Journal of Wine Economics and Executive Director of American Association of Wine Economists, Professor Karl Storchmann; author of the book The Wines of Georgia, Master of Wine Lisa Granik; Professor of Archeology from University of Toronto Stephen Batiuk; Wine Buyer for Whole Foods Market Melanie Mann; Wine Journalist from Wine Enthusiast Emily Saladino; Director at Robert Mondavi Institute’s Center for Wine Economics at UC Davis Julian Alston; author and Professor at UC Davis Robin Goldstein; Head of the Marketing Department at Georgian National Wine Agency Tamta Kvelaidze; Master Sommelier Julie Dalton; partner at Colangelo and Partners Paul Yanon; wine educator, co-founder of Saperica Erika Frey, and Vice President for Sales USA at Teliani Valley Gary Griggs (See details of agenda at ghvinoforum.com).
The events were co-organized with the National Wine agency of Georgia, and supported by Teliani Valley Winery and USAID Agricultural Program.
